backoffice

To provide you with the best possible support for your projects and put our relationship with nature at the heart of a successful transition, ACTeon Environment is launching its new website: www.acteon-environment.eu. This site is designed not only to support our clients and partners in their environmental projects, but also to embody our values of innovation and ecological responsibility. We have made it a point of honour to integrate technical solutions that reduce the environmental impact of digital technology, while offering a smooth and intuitive user experience.

A website designed to support your transitions

This new website offers new features to better meet the needs of our customers and partners:

  • Project pages: explore the initiatives ACTeon contributes to in various fields, such as the sea and oceans, fresh water, biodiversity, climate change adaptation, and knowledge transfer. Link to project page.
  • Skills: discover how our interdisciplinary approach, combining economic and social sciences, sheds light on the relationship between humans and nature and helps you make a successful transition.
  • Simplified and accessible navigation: a streamlined design and clear architecture allow you to quickly access essential information without wasting time, designed for mobile navigation.

Our approach emphasises human support, a key factor for success in any ecological transition. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any requests relating to projects or partnerships.

A commitment to responsible digital technology

The website’s design incorporates technical choices aimed at reducing its environmental footprint:

  • French hosting: control over cooling methods, compliance with the GDPR regarding data storage, and a commitment from our web host to limit its environmental footprint.
  • Optimisation of the design and code, as well as the image format used: simplified and fast display, with lighter images, reduces the load on servers and user terminals.

These measures are part of a comprehensive approach to digital sobriety, which is essential for limiting the environmental impact of the web. Indeed, digital technology currently accounts for around 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and 2.5% in France, a figure that is constantly rising. According to ADEME, energy consumption linked to digital usage in France accounts for 10% of our annual consumption, which is equivalent to the electricity consumption of a 1000 W radiator running continuously for 30 days for every French person. These figures highlight the importance of designing lightweight and efficient websites, while putting into perspective the environmental impact of browsing in terms of carbon, which is 21% for usage compared to 78% for the manufacturing phase.

Towards a successful ecological transition: questioning our relationship with nature

The ecological transition is not limited to reducing CO₂ emissions or protecting biodiversity. It also involves a profound transformation of our relationship with nature and a re-evaluation of our lifestyles and consumption patterns. Digital technology, as a powerful tool, is both a lever and a brake on this transition.

A well-designed website, such as ACTeon’s, perfectly illustrates the complexity of a successful transition: it facilitates access to knowledge, promotes best practices, and reduces its ecological footprint, while developing the visibility of projects engaged in all types of transitions at different scales, local, national, and European. This increase in visibility and the development of an online offering are accompanied by an increase in digital pollution, highlighting the duality of optimisation linked to our economic models and the importance of considering their rebound effects. We will continue to share our thoughts on what constitutes a successful transition, keeping this complexity in mind.
