The LIFE+ Alister project broadens its perspective!

An European workshop on integrating biodiversity protection and social and economic development

The final European Workshop of the LIFE+ Alister project took place on Thursday 28th February 2019, in Brussels at the premises of the European Bureau of the Grand Est region. Facilitated by ACTeon, partner of the Alister project, the workshop provided the opportunity to confront the results of the Alister project on the protection of the European Hamster in Alsace (France) with biodiversity protection experiences and initiatives from other parts of France and Europe (from the European Commission EASME, DG AGRI/DG ENV, LIFE projects Natureman, Habitats Calanques, Orsini Viper, H2020 PEGASUS, French program Agrifaune…). Building on the presentation of these experiences, the workshop identified pre-conditions for successful integration at different scales: field/management unit, landscape and territory. The final roundtable of the workshop highlighted opportunities for, and constraints to, integration of the current European regulatory framework dealing with biodiversity, nature protection, agriculture (CAP), rural development…
