Bring rivers and the ocean to your classroom with the blue education initiative… so pupils and children acquire knowlegdge, skills and values that are essential to the delivery of sustainable actions and practices.

Blue education in action aims to bring together pupils, students, teachers, scientists and local authorities to share their experiences and co-develop future blue education concepts and initiatives.

09h00 -09h15	The Blue education in action day is on! Official opening With representatives from the co-organisers, El Centre de la Platja and the Barcelona Town Hall
09h15 – 11h30	The agora of blue education projects Agenda of the Agora on site, in Spanish & Catalan, Organized by ICM CSIC Discover the activities and results of blue education projects organized by schools from the Catalonia Region. Listen to, and discuss with, students, teachers and associated partners of these projects to capture challenges and added-value. Think about how to adapt and replicate in your own class, school or region to contribute to Blue education in action.
11h45 – 14h00	Mini-hackathon: Co-develop your future blue challenge (education) project! Agenda of the mini-hackathon onsite, in English, Spanish & Catalan Organized by ACTeon, Eurocean Youth, Nausicaá, Youth Environment Europe As part of teams of pupils, teachers, scientists and stakeholders… co-develop the most exciting blue challenge (education) projects addressing the priority topics of the UN Ocean Decade. Think innovatively and creatively on how best to share knowledge –interactive games, training programme, a school trip concept, a theatre play… Floor is yours! Present your project’s concept, attract people interested to bring it to reality and maybe… get the highest number of votes recognizing the most inspiring projects.
14h15-15h45	Workshop: Widening and delivering impacts: bringing the blue education conversation forward Agenda of the workshop hybrid, in English Organized by: All-Atlantic Blue Schools, BlueLightS, Ciencia Viva, EMEPC, EMSEA, EU4ocean coalition, ICM-CSIC, OFB Listen to experiences from blue education networks from different parts of the world. Contribute to interactive sessions to identify what matters most to reach many schools and to deliver highest impacts. Help identifying key areas requiring better knowledge, prototyping and mechanisms for upscaling.
16h00 – 18h10	Bringing the blue to your classroom! A dedicated training for teachers Agenda of the workshop On site – in Catalan; Hybrid – in English (BlueMinds4Teachers) A joined effort by ICM-CSIC & the BlueMinds4Teachers project Understand the overall blue education context. Discover sources of inspiration and resources. Start thinking about the pet project you will develop with and for your class or school!
18h15-18h45	The Blue education in action day is… over (but the blue education journey continues…) – Official closing With representatives from the co-organisers, El Centre de la Platja and the Barcelona Town Hall… including the announcement of the winers of the mini hackathon.
18h45 onwards	Our blue education afterwork – relaxing and informal networking on the beach All languages welcome! By invitation only

Discover and enjoy selected pieces of our photo and video exhibition “We, children of the ocean”

Engaging in science through storytelling to preserve our blue planet!

Come and meet Neus Figueras, the author of Lorac, a novel for teens and adults that tackles climate change, marine biodiversity and much more, and has made readers go “wow” and inspired positive change. Discover the use of storytelling to find the heart behind the data and create empathetic characters that make readers care. You will realise that there is a difference between just conveying information and doing so while moving people.
