Today, let’s discover about a projects that wears the French flag! Essential is to introduce the Horizon 2050, with the ultimate goal for the EU to be climate-neutral by 2050 and persuing an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. This objective is at the heart of the European Green Deal and in line with the EU’s commitment to global climate action under the Paris Agreement. In this sense? ACTeon is operationalizing two projects within the Horizon 2050 vision and objective, engaging its team with water-usage related themes through two area-specific projects: one on the Dombes (département de l’Ain) and the other one on the Drome bassin. In the two cases ACTeon studies, evaluates and deals with themes concerning water usage in all shapes and forms touching upon : drinkable water for inhabitants and tourists, irrigation, livestock watering, industrial utilization, free time activities water usage, etc..

From the team…

Maelle Drouillat: “This kind of projects are extremely interesting especially when thinking about the current exploitation of resources. This is especially true after the 2022 summer which was characterized by important heat waves as well as after a very water-stressed winter. We are acknowledging the rising fear within local municipal actors and farmers, very stressed for the situation. What it is really interesting for me is to explore and understand how an area functions in relation to the water resource. It moves and motivates me to link the different water usages and try to understand what it is possible to do in the long and short term, to ameliorate water usages especially when this implies changing the way things are done.”
