SPA/RAC communication strategy

Updating the 2014 United Nations Biodiversity Center strategy to meet its new objectives.

Communication plays a key role for the center, raising the profile of its actions, securing its funding and supporting the development of its conservation initiatives. As part of SPA/RAC’s 40th anniversary celebrations, ACTeon helped to draw up its 2025-2027 communications strategy.

CONTEXT

The Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas (SPA/RAC) is committed to preserving marine biodiversity in the Mediterranean while supporting local communities and enhancing maritime traditions for future generations.

Until now, the center has relied on a communications strategy defined in 2017, enabling it to promote its events, symposia and conservation actions. To adapt it to the center’s new objectives, ACTeon conducted an in-depth review of this strategy by :

  • Evaluating existing communications through a comprehensive diagnostic including benchmarking and SWOT analysis.
  • Defining a new communications strategy for 2025-2027, with clear strategic axes, identified targets and objectives in line with the center’s ambitions.
  • Drawing up an operational roadmap for 2025, , including action planning, development of narratives up to the center’s 40ᵉ anniversary, creation of a slogan and a framework for evaluating actions taken.

OBJECTIVES

  • Improve the visibility of the center’s actions
  • Measure impact, capitalize on knowledge generated to improve communication.
  • Disseminate knowledge in the field and report on its use.
  • Promote networking with other UNEP centers
  • Involve external partners to support their initiatives
