CONTEXT
What is the link between climate change and changes in watershed hydrology? What are the impacts of climate change on territories? On what scientific basis can we build approaches to adapting to climate change to ensure sustainable management of hydrosystems? Explore2 provides answers for tomorrow’s water management.
- A scientific consortium led by INRAE and bringing together a number of research players (Météo-France, BRGM, Ecole Normale Supérieure, IRD, CNRS and EDF), provides a vision of the evolution of natural surface and groundwater resources over the whole of the 21st century in mainland France;
- Supporting local players in understanding and using these results to adapt their water resource management strategies. It is coordinated by OiEau. It includes communication and training activities, including the MOOC “Explore2.
OBJECTIVES
Co-financed by the project partners, the French Ministry of Ecological Transition (MTE) and the French Biodiversity Office (OFB), the Explore2 project aims to achieve the following objectives by 2024:
- update our knowledge of the impact of climate change on hydrology , based on the latest IPCC publications,
- support local stakeholders, in understanding and using these results to adapt their water resource management strategies.
